The first step is preparing a detailed analysis of the site, which begins by measuring the site boundaries, existing structures, location of the house on the site, and hardscape elements. We take notes on the existing plant material; geographic orientation; drainage patterns and slope of the site; the views; sources of noise; encroaching plants and structures from neighbors, etc.
We take accurate measurements of the house so that we know where all the doors and windows are located. We take many photographs of the site so that we can recreate the environment as we sit at the drafting table and begin to develop concepts for your garden. A scale drawing of the site is then produced using landscape design software.
